Ms. Brauer is an active member of the Ohio Employment Lawyers Association, the Cleveland Employment Lawyers Association, and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association Labor and Employment Section. Ms. Brauer currently serves as Treasurer for the Cleveland Employment American Inn of Court. Ms. Brauer also serves on the Executive Council of the Women in Law Section of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, and since 2013, has served as Chair for the Professional Development & CLE Committee of the Section. Previously, Ms. Brauer served as the Co-Chair of the Mentoring & Networking Committee and the Food for Thought Program for the Women in Law Section. Ms. Brauer was Chair of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association Print Publications Advisory Committee from 2007-2008 and 2009-2010 and co-chaired from 2006-2007. She is also a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and formerly volunteered as an instructor and team captain for the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association's 3Rs (Rights, Responsibilities, Realities) Program in which she instructed students in the Cleveland Municipal School District on the U.S. Constitution.
Ms. Brauer graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a degree in English/Literature. Ms. Brauer attended law school at the University of Cincinnati College of Law. While in law school, she worked as a law clerk for the Cincinnati Bar Association's Grievance Committee which investigated and prosecuted attorneys for ethical misconduct. After law school, Ms. Brauer was an assistant editor for a legal publishing firm authoring books and articles for corporate counsel in various areas of the law. Ms. Brauer then joined the law firm of Schuster & Simmons Co., LPA. While with Schuster & Simmons, Ms. Brauer represented plaintiffs and defendants in federal, state, and appellate courts in the areas of employment and labor, contract, business, and real estate. Ms. Brauer is admitted to practice law in the State of Ohio, the Northern District of Ohio, the Southern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
